October 5th – 9th, 2016
2015 was the inaugural year for the Eagle Lake Island Lodge “Cramer Oktoberfest Boondoggle”. There were 12 of us who made the trek up north for this and it was such a good time that we will be doing it again in 2016. The second annual “Cramer Oktoberfest Boondoggle” will be held from October 5th – 9th, 2016. We will depart the Fond du Lac area early the morning of Wednesday, October 5th returning on Sunday, October 9th.
I think everyone who attended this year had an absolutely fantastic time. I had the chance to reacquaint with an old friend I hadn’t seen in nearly ten years – Jim Panici. I had the chance to make many new friends; Chris Panici, Tristin Schulz, Ben Irving, Ed Konapasek, Kelly Boscom and Jeff Baron. But I also had the chance to forge deeper friendships and renew friendships with several of you; Mike Schulz, Mark Rowbottom, Bob Seidel and Niel Schueller. The 2016 event promises to give us all of that and more. However, this isn’t for everyone, there are some requirements as follows;
1) must be willing to have fun
2) must be willing to laugh at a good joke or two
3) must be willing to eat, drink and be merry !,
4) must be committed to the mantra of “what happens on the island stays on the island, except of course that which is captured on camera and posted on social media for the world to see”.
My favorite memories from Oktoberfest 2015, in no particular order; Ed Konapasek catching a 49” musky on a 6’ walleye rod in 50 feet of water with 8 pound monofilament, Mark Rowbottom catching a hook to the face (it’s been two months so we can laugh about it now), Mike Schulz’s birthday celebration (my liver has finally recovered), Jim Panici’s creative use of the word “fuck” (noun, pronoun, adjective, verb) during the Notre Dame – Clemson game, and Niel Schuellers love affair with island-brewed vanilla stout beer.
I have reserved the entire island (capacity is ~ 30 people) for the “2016 Cramer Oktoberfest Boondoggle”. Pricing for the 2016 event is $200.00 per night which, includes everything (meals, all you can drink beer, lodging, bait, gas, boats) the only things not included are; taxes, fishing license and gratuities.
